Had a fabulous time in Pavia today - we visited the tombs of Augustine and Boethius, saw the church where Barbarossa was crowned, watched parakeets nesting in the medieval skyscrapers and had a guided tour by a Carthusian monk. #Vercelli2024
This afternoon we went hunting for #manuscript#fragments inside the bindings of printed books, with the help of an endoscope. We made some very interesting finds, from ninth-century strips to Gothic music.
Today my students and I are on our way to beautiful #Vercelli and #Verona for our annual week-long spring school! We’re working with some amazing #medieval#manuscripts there (including the Vercelli Book!), but also with modern technologies like #multispectral imaging and endoscopy. I’ll try to post images of some of our activities using #Vercelli2024. But first - 11 hours on the train…
