Here are a few from a couple of days ago, when it got a bit too dark to take pictures at pne point so I had to use flash (forgive my sins, photography gods)

On to today, when I saw a large swarm of hoverflies, gathered to mate.

A firefly who made its way into the house has been relocated to the outdoors. These (among other residents) are one of the reasons we don’t “improve" our pasture and avoid spraying pesticides.

I found a Blue Ghost!!! These little tiny fireflies emit a bluegreen glow for up to a minute solid. Theyre super cool and Im excited to have found some at our place. I saw some last week during the Bat Blitz so I knew they were coming out!! BUCKET LIST SPECIES YAYYYY

The firefly is a bit easier to see on this leaf. I am holding the leaf so you can see my thumbnail and the lower right for scale. The firefly is perched in about the middle of frame. These things are super tiny about 4 to 6 mm long. They are not like the classic fireflies maybe used to catching, but they’re super cool.

Finally finished these! Theyre UV reactive!

A screen printed lightning bug—its shell looks like an eye with an orange iris and it is framed by a black and orange decorative border. Its butt has a bright neon green glow. The piece is depicted in low lighting with UV on the area where the glow is.

We are at peak firefly season now and the evenings are magical. Really hard to capture with a camera, and I still haven't managed a video, but quite happy with how this came out.
