Book Review for 2024: Arthur Gould Lee's Open Cockpit.

I listened to Gould's No Parachute last year and was drawn into the story he told, via letters to his wife, about air combat in WW1. Open Cockpit is similar but a bit broader and philosophical. Still a good read ☕☕☕☕

Book review for 2024: James Scott's The War Below: The Story of Three Submarines That Battled Japan

This is the story of three boats, three groups of men, who battled below and on the Pacific in WW2 and how they lived, survived, and died. It is a powerful and emotional book. @bookstodon @books

Book review for 2024: Peter Sasgen's Stalking the Red Bear.

An interesting and informative look at submarine ops. I liked both the main story as well as the detail of sub ops and procedures.

I re- via The Amber Spyglass by Philip Pullman ( 3/His Dark Materials). One of my longtime faves, this 3rd of a trilogy is the epic you'd expect. @bookstodon

Coming up on tonight's stream: the concluding part of The House on the Borderland! It's cosmic, it's haunting, it's.. sadly unfortunate if you're a pet in a William Hope Hodgson story, so be Content Warned :/
