The blue/green patch of flight feathers on the wings is seen and contrasts against the two tone brown feathers on the rest of the bird. An Intermediate Egret standing on a rock amongst the reeds. It is in its fairly compact stance, rather than the longer stance you often see them in.

david , 3 months ago to random Critters around the lake during my lunchtime walk today. A small Brisbane River Turtle, a Pacific Black Duck having a bath, and a young Eastern Water Dragon. #Bird #lizard #turtle #reptile #AustralianWildlife #WildOz #BrisbaneRiverTurtle #EasternWaterDragon #PacificBlackDuck A young male Eastern Water Dragon perches on top of a stone wall, staking out its territory. It has the beginnings of a red flush on the breast, but it isn't very strong yet. A Pacific Black Duck rears up in the water, flapping its wings. Pictured here it has its wings at full extent. There are water droplets spraying off them. A Brisbane River Turtle pokes its head out of the water as it forages in the shallows of the lake. It has a round, fairly flat shell (humped in the middle, but not hugely so), webbed feet with claws, yellow eyes and a piggy snout.
