@BeAware@rikiti9 no, Mastodon doesn't have the concept of following a topic.
It's up to the software implementor to do something like that.
NodeBB, for example, does allow you to subscribe to a topic. My replying here automatically subscribed me to the topic so future responses (even if I'm not mentioned), will notify me.
@rikiti9 I am building ActivityPub integration into the next major version of NodeBB. It is still in development but moving towards an alpha release soon 🙂
@adventur0usDS there's MANY 3rd party apps you can use that have push notifications, but of course they don't all "look" like the webUI or anything.🤷♂️
@Offroadrj That's kind of how conversation goes.. If you don't say anything, no one will answer.. but if you say the wrong thing, EVERYBODY wants to answer LOL
If you think no one knows you are posting, say something like, "Gee, isn't Elon Musk simply the greatest man alive? " and at least 100 people will reply, just to call you an asshole LOL
Good morning Brother, it's just past 0545h now, I've been getting coffee, feeding cats, now to my messages
“Social-media companies are embracing this new type of push because people are posting and interacting less publicly on social media. They are also pushing more overall. While the number of #notifications on any given app fluctuates over time, they have risen on nearly every major social-media app since July 2023, according to data from the app-analytics firm Measure Protocol.”
