The U.S. has transferred to #Ukraine thousands of infantry weapons and more than 500,000 rounds of ammunition that were seized more than a year ago as they were being shipped by #Iran to #Houthi forces in #Yemen, the U.S. military said on Tuesday.
@GottaLaff I think the real question on everyone's mind is why they thought they could aggressively position their country so close to one of our drones.
“United States and Britain struck at least 30 #Houthi targets in #Yemen on Saturday in a second wave of assaults meant to further disable #Iran-backed groups that have relentlessly attacked American and international interests in the wake of the #Israel-#Hamas war, U.S. officials told The Associated Press.” https://apnews.com/article/2f235ac0d00edc266576ef0d76fa33e4
There is a long standing policy directive underlying these attacks, and it is in addition to retaliation for the direct attack on one of our land bases.
Since WWII, our national policy has been to insure free trade on the open seas. The Houthi attacks aren't 'military action' in the traditional sense, in that they are indiscriminately attacking shipping with only minimal attention to the flags and allegiances of the ships. Shipping needs this to cease, end of story, and that in and of itself is justification for leveling their misused military capability.
One might be able to fool around with Mother Navy just so much, but fuck with it, and they'll end up in a ditch, holding their groin.
"Israel and the ‘crime of crimes’
The International Court of Justice says Israel might be committing genocide in Gaza. Scholar of genocide A. Dirk Moses explains to Coda how we got here"
[…] Legally, there’s no hierarchy between crimes against humanity, war crimes, ethnic cleansing, genocide. But in public opinion, there is — and genocide is seen as “the crime of crimes.” The liberal view is that that’s a good thing, that we need this exceptional crime for these most exceptional cases. My view is that this is an extremely problematic situation because “that which shocks the conscience of mankind” — language traditionally used in these humanitarian documents — is something that needs to resemble the Holocaust in order to truly shock us and therefore to trigger the genocide charge. But if the Holocaust is considered unique or exceptional, then, by definition, how many cases are ever going to approximate that? In other words, you define genocide out of realistic existence.

Kudos to the interviewer for asking hard questions, and repeating them when he waffles, and for asking about a proxy war with Iran. Nonetheless, much political BS, and so many empty words.
