Red net-winged beetle on a western sword fern in the Hoh Rainforest

The same scene but from above. The insect is vivid red against the green fern.

A western sword fern crosses the photo from right to left, with its long dark thin leaves. On one of the upper leaves sits a red net-winged beetle, seen from the side. The rear part of its body is hidden by the next leaf. What we can see of its body is long red wings and a red middle section and a bit of black on its head. Its antennas and legs are multi-jointed.
