We’ve known for decades that extremes were coming.

Higher temps ☀️
Drier droughts 🥵
Intense storms ⛈️
Severe floods 🌊
Changing coasts 🏝️
Insecure resources 🌱
Growing conflict 💥
Increased migration🚶🏽‍♂️
Mounting uncertainty 🌍

is real. It’s here. It’s now. We have work to do.

Nike Pledged to Shrink Its Carbon Footprint. It Just Slashed the Staff Charged With Making That Happen.

"Before the layoffs, had missed its own targets for reducing its contribution to global warming. Its have instead grown slightly since 2015.

Nike’s retreat from sustainability threatens to upend its carefully crafted image as a brand working to address , not one that is making it worse."

@CelloMomOnCars It feels like more and more brands are exposing themselves as fair weather climate champions at a time when the weather is getting more and more extreme. Something to do when there's plenty of profit to be made, yet the first thing to get cut when belts need tightening 😒

Something greenwashing something something.

Nothing like a government mandate to make companies do the right thing. See the difference between the fuel efficiency mandates in Europe (smol cars, higher EV sales) and the US (SUVs).

It's great that governments are stepping up to help residents impacted by driven weather events.

More of these will happen with more force and higher frequency because of

What are these governments doing to reduce consumption so hurricanes do not get more intense?

There's been a few very hot summers in England's now yellow and pleasant land, and with not too many homes with air conditioning, a lot of people can't escape the heat. And of course the sewage issue has made the place decidedly less pleasant.

Let's hope voters remember this when wind turbines are proposed near their homes.
