Sometimes I wish I could just let go and hop in the snow like this cardinal. I watched him a good 15+ minutes just go hop-hop-hop along the garden.

The raven talked to Randy as he was putting out the peanuts. I got out my real camera hoping for a shot, but she never showed. Randy said she headed away with a twig in her mouth, so it may be nest-building time.

Since I had the camera in my hand, I grabbed shots of the other regulars that come for peanuts and suet.

Rainy morning. In the distance I hear and see skylarks singing. Right in front of me lands a common kestrel with prey. Great opportunity to observe it eating a mouse (?).

Among the Black-tailed Godwits I saw a ringed Icelandic. Love to report it to the project which ringed it, but it’s quite a search for the right project. So I ended up emailing two projects. Hopefully one of them is the right one.

If someone knows the project, let me know.
Boost appreciated

This little titmouse sat on the new perch I put together and I love how absolutely relaxed and chill they were. I watched this little one for a good 20 minutes waiting for a flight pic but instead they just vibed. Not that I mind, I enjoy just vibing too with them.

I love the detail in this photo. I'm starting to recognize the individual blue jays by their behavioral patterns. One thing we don't talk a lot about is that animals often have loose routines they follow, only deviating when new food is found or danger is present. This one likes to perch on my fire pit and observe before taking the dive into the seed. They're very cautious - rightfully so - between the neighborhood cats, grackle bullies, and people walking by. But eventually they indulge in the seed left for them, and leave with hopefully full bellies and a desire to come back. :) 🐦
