Is it just me or are 9-5 hours naturally the most stifling?
for me at least, 8 hours any other time of the day is less bad than the constant awful grind of 9-5...

i saw someone on twitter saying to "leverage your network" i'd sooner leverage a shotgun into my mouth jesus fucking christ...
the colleague in question feels that only her way of doing things is the right one and expects me to adapt to her way of thinking and her logic. This is tiring and burdensome because I have to force me to stop doing things automatically and efficiently, but think how she wants it done and do it her way. I work worse when this...
I'll try to keep this short and sweet....

I've observed if I say nothing (because I simply don't know how to react), opinionated people think you agree with them, which I don't. I don't care....
I'm a man and so far this has happened only with other men, but I'm genuinely baffled as to why some people do this. It has happened thrice so far in 3 different work settings:...

It was majority employee-owned before the acquisition but is now majority owned by private equity firm. The main change I'm noticing is that everyone is being pressured to work uncompensated overtime (we're all on salary here) and requests for training/professional development have been all but eliminated. They also initially...
like the suggested medicare for all, but only on a state level
Earlier in the pandemic many news and magazine organizations would proudly write about how working from home always actually can lead to over working and being too "productive". I am yet to collect some evidence on it but I think we remember a good amount about this....
I’m a nurse working shifts and sometimes 5 days without a pause and I still don’t know if I’m gonna take one of the 2 9 to 5 jobs my hospital system has offered. I’d earn less money, but I’m already 45 years old and I don’t know if I should call it quits and settle for a regular job 5 days a week and free weekends...

Thanks for subscribing to /c/workreform@lemmy.world ! Now that we've grown (and are growing) so quickly, I've had some calls to discuss what this community is for!...
I’m 43 years old but apparently I have a baby face, good hair for my age and everyone believes I’m in my mid 20s, even though I already have some gray hairs nobody seems to notice (so far)....
I'm literally not a manager, I'm the newest employee here and this other coworker sits and talks to a female coworker that likes the attention for the first 50 minutes after clocking in. They don't work and nobody seems to care. Infuriating as it is, I think this is not my problem to solve....

Are the same petty mods running this show? If so, please ban me immediately. I don't see how you can reconcile claiming to fight labor exploitation while at the same time giving away your labor for free to a billion dollar company.

So, I just need to rant for a minute about what's just happened. It's made me feel fairly disposable as a worker. I work in I.T. support. I help people who can't operate technology with highly complicated issues. I am highly skilled, well trained and I have a diverse set of understanding for technical issues....
