I like to imagine it's like those scenes from LOTR when the orcs fight amongst themselves.
... but then reality is they're being sent to the front with little to no training and Russian gear sucks balls for the crew with limited visibility, so accidents upon accidents upon bad moves...
I think it's just that most of the competent heavy vehicle drivers have already died due to drones or artillery fire. You can't just throw some random Conscriptovich into the driver's seat of an infantry fighting vehicle or tank and expect them to be able to effectively navigate obstacles.
