“Dept of Health & Human Services said hospitals must obtain written informed consent from patients before they undergo sensitive examinations — like pelvis & prostate exams — esp if patients will be under anesthesia.

NYT investigation in 2020 found hospitals, doctors & doctors in training sometimes conducted pelvic exams on women who were under anesthesia, even when those exams were not medically necess & when patient had not authorized them..”

@GottaLaff
The pelvic exams are the most egregious by far, but imo there should be more procedures included. I had surgery a few years ago: for a few weeks following had significant discomfort urinating. I asked the surgeon if I had been catheterized; he shrugged and said he did not know. Maybe it was necessary but I should at least have been briefed about it.There ARE alternatives for males. Instead of discussing they just knock you out and treat you as a specimen. Women especially.
