From Michigan to Nebraska, Midwest States Face an Early Wildfire Season.

The blazes come after a record dry winter in the region. “Year to date, we've had close to 300 wildfires statewide,” a Wisconsin official said. “The normal year-to-date 10-year average is about 40 fires.”

geezuz, this just drove it home to me that we are NORMALLY "at a tipping point," the whole place already catches fire every damned summer, we were already into the power curve, a degree or two now was everything 😪

The west coast has been burning for more than 10 years. It started with multiple fires in the San Diego area, then made its way north, year by year, accelerating, but no one mentions that. I have yet to see an explanation of last year's sudden temperature jump, but I think it must have at least something to do with the boreal forest burning in Canada. I don't see much about the significance of that, either.
