@GottaLaff@Janika Guardian report this morning says she just told the legal teams to prepare jury instructions for a basically "Trump gets to simply declare everything he did completely legal because he says so" scenario. I'm like, WTF....?
@GottaLaff
She may even be driving her clerks away in order to give some plausible justification for her glacial pace.
I have seen judges make life impossible for a clerk they want to fire or replace.
@GottaLaff I disagree with Lat's belief that Cannon isn't unintelligent/evil as well as overwhelmed, but I definitely agree part of why she keeps postponing simple decisions is because she has no idea what to do. She's like a first-year medical intern suddenly being asked to perform brain surgery:
"For the record, I don’t agree with criticisms of [Cannon] as unintelligent or evil; I believe she’s simply out of her depth (as discussed below)... I believe the biggest issue is her lack of experience with complex trials. She handled only four jury trials as a lawyer, and at the time of her assignment to the Trump documents case last June, she had overseen only four jury trials as a judge. None of the trials she presided over lasted longer than five days....
In the words of... a former federal prosecutor, 'Based on what we know about her professional biography, this judge is completely inexperienced with complex criminal litigation....'"
@GottaLaff Questions I have include, they would have known about her before starting (one presumes.) So to further think through....why now and mid-clerkship? To help delay this trial further, or because she's an awful boss, or because she's an incompetent millstone, and they don't want her name on their resumes?
4/ You guys can speculate all you want, but until you have facts, that's meaningless.
Lat has updated his thread. Just click on my link and read down.
Cannon is now OVER staffed, so guess all your speculation was for naught? Anyway, always better to wait for facts and read threads before guessing. Then you KNOW what to comment on.
Cannon has shown herself to be inept. Given her contempt for Jack Smith et al in court, I can imagine her behaviour at work might be rather immature/nasty. Not totally buying the "family issue" explanation. A coverup is also a proven excuse for shenanigans. Not saying that happened, but it can't be ruled out.
I am sure Cannon and staff are innocent of such things. Maybe.
Or perhaps her office is now overstaffed with Trump loyalists. It seems to be a trend.
