You just learned where stuff is. Which roads go where, which ones connect. Where traffic is often heavy. This is more or less a lost skill. And Google Maps can eat dirt. It never failed to take the most asinine routes, favoring byzantine directions over direct routes if it deemed them, incorrectly, better.
