You may not like it, but this what peak bus seat looks like. This is the Ultimate Seat. No one can sit next to you. You have a window. There is a USB for your phone and a lil shelf for your work case. It’s elevated making you feel special. It’s backwards since cool people do not need to look where they are going. Absolute luxury!

Over here in Manchester, a new fleet of buses is being introduced, and older buses are being refitted - seats like this are becoming more common in the front half of single deckers, behind the driver, but without the little shelf.
One operator has double deckers with a single sear behind the drivers cab, under the stairs, with only a tall, narrow sliver of a window, but an almost unobstructed view through the windscreen.
This seat is highly prized by lone female travellers.

@futurebird @robotistry Who knew busses had first class cabins?

You have to be like a Chess Grand Master playing multiple opponents, except in this seat it's a staring competition with the other passengers. Eye contact, eye contact, eye contact...make everyone look away.

I liked this seat as a kid because it was slightly larger as a normal one so no adult could sit next to you but another kid could.

@futurebird Oh, when you start like that... I'd argue that I'd want a softer seat, and it should be closer to the window. And maybe wider (trams here have some of those 😊); not wide enough for two people, but so that two kids can sit there or one big person or like, me and my backpack. That means... yeah, that typical tram seat I mentioned is perfect for me - for short rides, but it lacks the USB and the shelf, so you definitely have a point with that.

@futurebird That’s an excellent bit of design interpretation!
