@loottheroom Group Survival checks, and by directly asking what they're doing as the ranger leads them. What flora and fauna catches their attention? Do they talk to their companions as they adventure? Does anything annoying but not detrimental happen, e.g. a rock in their shoe, or a particular persistent gnat? They might not necessarily be mechanically involved, but they stay focused on the game rather tuning out and checking phones.
