This idea that in the "future" that "no one will have to code" is such nonsense.

Code might look different. It might be more in 4GLs or 5GLs and not 3GLs, it might have more assistive tools, it might change shape in a thousand different ways.

But you will always need people who can engage in the structured thinking required and you will still need something that we would recognize, in the CS sense, to be code.

Some exec types are making waves right now by asserting otherwise.

Basically continuing to demonstrate that the job most replaceable by AI are execs. Who cost a lot and make terrible decisions, something that can be easily outsourced in both aspects

They think they can go to an AI and say "make me an everything app!" and then have a little interview with the AI and out comes their ideal app. Move this three pixels to the right, they say, and it happens!

But that's not how software is built

Exec: "Make me an everything app!"
Me: <brings up web browser> "Done. Just some minor configuration required."

@hrefna so I'm guessing this means they will be cutting developer jobs, telling remaining developers to make use of the AI tools they invested heavily in, and then the remaining developers will have to work harder for the same money to make up the staffing shortage, because obviously they aren't using the amazing AI tools correctly.
