me:she – “In the Key of E”

Absolutely gorgeous, lush indie pop. A husky, slightly smoky woman’s voice, a shuffling beat and piano/electric piano do most of the work here, but a subtle and refined production surrounds those pieces and sets them up to succeed. And boy, do they – this is a song that will stick with you.

Arcomusical/Jeremy Muller – “Singularity”

A fascinating and hypnotic piece of music performed by a berimbau ensemble. The Brazilian instrument combines plucked string and percussion sounds, and the 6 of them that comprise this ensemble make impressive use of its possibilities. Sounds like a couple of different instruments along the lines of a banjo/mandolin, plus small handheld percussion -- nope, all berimbau!

gribbles – Hello EP

Three electronic pop instrumentals with a simple synth-forward vibe that puts me in mind of late ‘60s/early 70s synth novelties (a la Gershon Kingsley) fused to the poppiest/most anthemic side of ‘80s New Wave. Adorning these warm and friendly tracks are cut up samples from the ‘70s of Tennyson’s poetry. Anachronistic, idiosyncratic and deeply charming throughout.

ølstrøm – Monster Mixed EP & Udrydde Takeover EP

Classic techno vibes with a modern approach on these 2 EPs. Udrydde Takeover revolves around a pair of mixes of “Udrydde.” “Takeover Mix” gives an early vibe, with slow washes of icy chords, intricate percussion and processed voices. “Remastered” version pushes classic acid vibes & fills the spaces with a slow synth sweep. The Monster EP offers even more classic .

Default Media Transmitter – Receiver EP

Default Media Transmitter invites friends for their new EP. “They Suffer in the Skin” (remix by @xylander serves wobbly Boards of Canada chords over intense DnB breaks and snatches of froggy synth. “Pelagic Interference” (remix by @fstateaudio) takes a tough breakbeat & surrounds it with tense synths. Sans friends, DMT still delivers bangers like “You Call Them Emotions, Do You Not?" & "Void Maneuver"
