I took a walk down the frontage and it’s like a whole different garden from the outside! Have some #bloomscrolling. We’ll start with a video of Cloud’s Bush and all the happy bees.
Cloud was our Delaware hen that died after a god damn bald eagle tried to snatch her, and this was the only bush of the right size I could find at Home Depot in winter for her grave. It’s neither native nor a food plant. But a year and a half later, it’s a showstopper!
@sollat yeah! This plant isn’t quite at foxglove/snapdragon levels of misfiling in my brain, but I haven’t been able to make the name stick yet. I thought it was a wort but couldn’t think of one other than motherwort and it’s not that! 😅 This is one of the No Psych Drugs plants. Maybe I’ll remember??
@sollat This is the blackberry sacrifice area. There are so many roots under this whole area, from Cloud’s bush down to the tall lilies at the propane tank, that it’s impossible to get them all. I just get the landscapers to yank the visible growth twice a year and plant accordingly. I put the SJ worts right by a mostly-decayed stump and wished them well, and they’ve really stood up for themselves!

My neighbor doesn’t garden and has this cascading blackberry on the rock wall. I’m committed to fighting that bastard but it’s also growing up into the trees. All I can do is cut what dangles and pull what makes a play elsewhere. The battle never ends.
