Can anyone please tell me where Check's and Balances are in this current horrible time in America?!?!?! WTF are the FBI or DOJ doing to protect us?!?!?
@otownKim And the DOJ and FBI are law enforcement agencies, not political checks and balances. It's long been the case that they have not been used in political disputes unless there is clear and convincing evidence of crimes being committed. There's only one side of the aisle that has weaponized the DOJ and FBI, and it's not the one currently in power.
@otownKim The system of checks and balances has utterly collapsed in the US government. In theory, each branch checks the other two -- but that requires that every branch act in good faith in performing those checks. If the GOP refuses to impeach a Supreme Court justice who has clearly engaged in acts outside the "good behavior" standard, that check fails. If the Supreme Court makes political decisions supporting one party over another, that check fails. Etc, etc, all the way down.
