after working in the video games industry for a decade, i can safely say the single largest cause of problems during development is this

features

every time someone asks for new feature like "make the character move", "play a sound" or "run the game", it pushes back the release date and inevitably creates bugs

i think through careful thought and design, it should be possible to one day ship a game with zero features

every time someone adds something to the game, it starts off as an amazing sounding idea and then all those planning blind spots are revealed. it pushes back the released ate and inevitably creates bugs

i think through no thought or design, it should be possible to one day ship a game with zero game

@ben also bug counts. There should only ever be one bug in the database: 'Game is not done'

That way nobody gets distracted with figuring out repro cases and fixes.
