My point: LEAVE NO DOUBT. You cannot afford to hide your accomplishments. You must shout them from the rooftops. You must rise above the noise and lies. Not just, “I’m Joe Biden and he’s a convicted felon.” In 2024 that’s not enough. COURT YOUR BLACK BASE!
In short: You mustn’t presume people are decent. You must challenge people to fight for DECENCY and democracy. Make the stakes personal to EVERYONE. Democracy depends on the decency in the hearts of each and everyone. Point to the past (civil rts) vs now (GOP). Elevate and energize electorate!
It is crucial that in Joe Biden you give people something to vote for—not just anti the Convicted Felon. That may be the difference between getting 10 percent more people off the couch who previously may have said, “I’m not voting” versus those people staying rooted to the couch.
