@dansup I've seen like 3 spammy looking accounts and zero (maybe one?) actual spam posts on mastodon in the last 18 months of using it daily.. I'm guessing that mean mastodon IS doing something, and fairly successfully?

@naught101 It really depends on the server your on and if you're an admin or user.

I bet you are not on the mod team of this server, or you are not included in the popular account suggestions, but I can say that if you were, or even if you watched the local feed of this server, you could see it for yourself!

perhaps one could also implement greylisting for instances which are not trusted to regulate their own spam problem very well.

this would of course delay the propagation of toots, but maybe...
