Israel sent weapons to Iran in 1980 because they wanted Iraq to be destroyed, and US supported Saddam from 85 to 88 even after Saddam bombed an American Navy ship just to extend the war and weaken both countries (mainly Iran).

You can't compare Russia with Israel. The region between Russia and ukraine were part of Russia and were given to Ukraine Soviet republc. Palestine was never part of European colonizers.
