@pluralistic In regards to "The dancing robot on stage at the splashy event is literally a guy in a robot-suit" I can only say WTF? Boston Dynamics had created human like (and dog like) robots, and they work.
My latest nationally bestselling novel is "The Bezzle," an ice-cold revenge story of high-tech finance crime starring the forensic accountant Martin Hench:
My ebooks and audiobooks (from Tor Books, Head of Zeus, McSweeneys, Beacon, Verso and others) are for sale all over the net, but I sell 'em too, and when you buy 'em from me, I earn twice as much and you get books with no DRM and no license "agreements."
If you prefer a newsletter, subscribe to the plura-list, which is ad-/tracker-free, and is utterly unadorned save a single daily emoji. Today's is "🧍🏿♀️". Suggestions solicited for future emojis!

"The discovery of these frauds somehow never precipitates disillusionment. Rather than getting angry with marketers for tricking them, reporters are ventriloquized into repeating the claim that these aren't lies, they're premature truths. "
For me it's a phrase I'm starting to see far too frequently like everyone responding to the Rabbit R1 with "it's a failure but I like the idea". That just means you like science fiction not that this company is worth respect.
@pluralistic Obviously it would be bad for a stoned asshole to fly around over my head with explosives strapped to their back. That's why I'm founding a startup that'll give free jetpack rides to Series A investors at the next Burning Man
@pluralistic Not a jet pack, but the GEN H-4 personal helicopter showed promise for awhile. Unfortunately, it was more profitable for GEN to supply its innovative engines to other manufacturers. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sDC8Cs5gmqc
