Great question. This might actually play a role here. Nuclear energy has the lowest land impact of any energy source. They better involve the local population in this though.
This is hopeful, and we need more nuclear, but I have very serious questions about the methodology to this survey.
The prior marks on the line graph indicate not all categories of response are represented, as the don’t add up to 100%. Then there is a sudden change over the last 4 years where the % supporting jumps to the mid 70s and all four periods add up to exactly 100%.
This, to me, feels like a question change on or around 2021, or a methodology change that’s not clearly labeled, and casts doubt on the integrity of the research, especially given the generally modest level of knowledge about nuclear, which, according to my read of the article and survey details, doesn’t appear to have changed at any point.
@Emil Good step. In line with Engie's news they're also moving away from Russian supply chains. By the end of the decade the EU isn't relying on Russia at all anymore.
@Emil Currently 57% of all uranium globally is retrieved using ISL. This will further raise the number, further decreasing the footprint of uranium mining.

Nope, those are being reduced, too. Wind and solar are growing to fill the gap. I guess, people are saying that if only we would have ramped up nuclear, we could've turned off more fossil fuel-powered generation.
But yeah, shit's complex. The last nuclear reactor was fast-tracked to be shut off, because there was fear that Russia might bomb it. We also don't have uranium of our own and dependence on other countries for our energy generation wasn't exactly popular when Russia was our main supplier of natural gas, too.
We've also been looking for 60 years and still have not found a place where we could store the nuclear waste. Pretending that we'll find a place for it any time now, that's just a meme at this point.
I believe for a period once the German anti nuclear movement started there was an increase in fossil fuel usage. But I'm not sure if that is still the case of the top of my head.
Or he could be referring to the environmental impacts of certain renewable being worse in some aspects like hydro impacting migratory patterns of aquatic life.
