I despise Trump with every fiber of my being but I agree with the spirit of this. We need to make it easier for legal immigrants. I would be highly suspicious of a Trump administration's implementation of this policy, though. He makes everything about him.
I really can't stand him but that is a good idea. Doubt its his tho.
AAaand then it's not a good idea:
From the article:
graduates would be screened “to exclude all communists, radical Islamists, Hamas supporters, America haters and public >charges.”
“He believes, only after such vetting has taken place, we ought to keep the most skilled graduates who can make significant >contributions to America. This would only apply to the most thoroughly vetted college graduates who would never undercut >American wages or workers,” Leavitt said in a statement to CNN.
Oops there we go with another pathetic example of a raging fascist literally outflanking a milquetost centrist on the left.
Fuck Trump, the hateful bastard, but this is so pathetic that Biden and centrist democrats utterly refuse to engage in promising genuine reforms and providing a vision to the truly desperate (economically) american public and it is going to end up killing us all.
Trump campaign spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt said that graduates would be screened “to exclude all communists, radical Islamists, Hamas supporters, America haters and public charges.”
"White, rich, Christian conservative foreigners only"
This isnt Trump outflanking anyone. This is them setting up a pipeline to import foreign born conservatives to eventually vote in our elections to prop up their dwindling local support for extremist policy.
Biden should support the green card policy without the above restrictions. That would be progress. This Trump version is nothing good at all.

Communists? 🎶 One of these things is not like the others 🎶
Doesn't matter, that just means "we'll exclude all non-white, non-Christian Europeans who have ever said anything remotely critical of Donald Trump in their time on the internet."
I have no idea why the USA spends money on training international students until they get their PhD and then doesn't automatically give them permanent residency. One guy I know came from Iran to get his physics PhD and although he has managed to stay in the USA with a work visa, by default the USA would have sent him back to Iran!
Foreign students pay full tuition, with no state contribution. Lots of universities have increased foreign admissions specifically to address declining state allocations. Science grad schools, where grants pay the student's tuition & stipend are a different question, but a lot of funding mechanisms, including some US gov't, bar foreign nationals.
The whole pool of foreign students are great, though: top students in their home country, generally from families wealthy in their home country, highly motivated & ambitious. Many/most of them seek college in the US hoping it will be a stepping stone to employment and permanent residence. I can understand why even a xenophobe like Trump would make an exception for students.
I 10,000% guarantee this would not be enacted by a Trump presidency. Worst, if some for of it was put forward it would have specific conditions limiting which country of origin this would apply to (surprise surprise: white ones).
Please don't get lured by the broken clock phenomenon...
