It was fun watching all the monster fights as usual, but everything else was just a mess of storytelling and felt like random lore thrown in to tie thing together.
Yes, I was left with the feeling that this was very much a kid's movie (despite the only audience when I went was me and another middle age bloke watching it on his own) when earlier outings didn't feel that way. I can feel my interest in the franchise waning considerably, at a time when the Japanese version just keeps getting better.
