It's very hard to kill a golden pothos. Just cut it up and throw it in dirt, or throw it in a bowl of water for a week or a year, it really doesn't care. The plants don't die
I can't recommend a specific one because where i live we have the opposite problem; but in general the type of humidifier is the most important when it comes to resilience and maintenance, best info source i can point to is ths video from technology connections where he talks about different types; all of the ones he talks about in the video (aside from the big one) are fairly simplistic in construction, so they'll start as soon as power is applied.
Also be mindful about the size of the room, since a small one may not be fast enough.
You have a monkey tail cactus. For awhile they grow vertical and then once they reach a certain stage they droop down and grow downward. If you Google monkey tail cactus you can see a bunch of photos. They look very lovely in a hanging basket.
Thanks for the information - I had no idea it was a feature rather than a bug.
Do you know if taking the stakes out and letting it droop as it will would be dangerous for it at all, after being allowed to grow so tall with stakes for about a year?
Depending on the time of year and other factors they will also put out air roots and even without the air roots you can clone it straight into dirt during spring and summer.
They take a lot longer than 2 weeks to begin rooting, in my experience. But if you leave them in the water they'll root eventually.
As a side note, the babies will not have yellow leaf edges. This type of sansevieria reverts to an all-green variety when propped this way. If you want to keep the yellow edges, you have to prop them by letting them bud off the main root.
@inasaba@simon Spot on reply. I started a single cutting from my daughter's plant. It was at least four weeks before any roots developed. And yes, the resulting plant lost its yellow edge.
