Apparently, Fan Francisco has a program that provides free alcohol to the homeless.🤦‍♂️

It costs $5 million per year. 🤦‍♂️

It has served only 55 clients so far.🤦‍♂️

@bontchev chronic alcoholics who stop consuming alcohol suddenly and completely die of withdrawal in pretty short order. They must taper off slowly. Without reading the article, I’d guess this is saving lives.

Jails do this too. A deputy sheriff friend of mine told me once that his county lockup would occasionally have to administer alcohol. His captain would walk the person to the far end of the parking lot once or twice a day to get off jail property and give them a drink or two of vodka.

@bontchev this my experience too. I’m a collaborator by nature. When starting a task or project I find asking an LLM for help gives me something to react to. Often a better start for me even if the result looks nothing like it’s answer.

I have the impression that there are two distinct management groups (or schools of thought) at Microsoft that are involved in the development of Windows.

One of them works on the internals of the OS and strives to make it better and better.

The other one works on its user interface and strives to make it worse and worse.

@bontchev my favorite desktop UI of all time is still Windows 7.
