Why does safari hate mastodon advanced mode???

I just accidentally boosted something when I meant to favourite it, I know its not mastodons problem because this never happens on chrome

like, idk what the safari team did recently, but you can def notice how it breaks sites when you keep the tabs open, steve jobs is rolling in his grave!!

@dansup I get the anti-Chrome crowd’s arguments, and I fundamentally agree with much of it, but ultimately a browser needs to work and work well. Chromium browsers work and work well.

I really want to love Firefox but it’s just a little rough around the edges and silly niggles keep me going back to something Chrome-based. Always degoogled but I get that I’m still feeding into Big G calling web standards shots with it.

After some conversations with friends NOT on the fediverse I've arrived at calling it "independent social media."

This is better than "open source" or other titles, it better conveys the central difference.

@futurebird great phrasing. I’m in the process of writing a “taking back control” post for friends and family and will absolutely be using this to refer to fediverse places!

@starshine @dansup @pixelfed I disagree. Dansup, or any other dev, owes us absolutely nothing and especially not when they’re producing work for free (not even paid with ads or personal data). They should be free to work however they want. If you’re not comfortable with how a project is being handled you can either choose not to engage with it or get busy coding your own take with your standards.

@dansup when I heard about it I was perplexed that folk bemoaning the lack of federation weren't immediately hopping to Pixelfed 🤷

There's a Fediverse challenge which runs throughout June called AudioMo:

  1. Create & post an audio file every day in June using the hashtag #AudioMo. It can be anything including music, speech, sounds, ambient recordings etc.

  2. That's it!

Mastodon lets you post actual audio files, they don't need to be video. They can be any length as long as the file size is under 40 megabytes. Formats can be MP3, OGG, WAV, FLAC, OPUS, AAC, M4A or 3GP.

The challenge also has an account at @audiomo
