A total ban is the only sane policy for Airbnb. There obviously needs to be accommodation in cities for visitors, but that shouldn’t be at the expense of housing units for people who actually live there. More governments should follow Barcelona’s lead.

@parismarx a lot of cities that have air BnBs also have a lot of empty office space that could be converted to capsule hotels (but probably not long-term accommodation - at least not as easily) if cities would allow it. So you could ban air bnb and any other vacation accommodations that take away from the long-term housing market, and create more than enough spots for visitors to make up for what was lost.
