Started on my first DSLR two years ago after someone gifted me a Nikon 200-500 lens. This was one of the first, and still one of the luckiest, photos I’ve ever gotten with that setup.

Why is it that the worst tasks: the ones I want to do the least are things that take like 17min tops to complete— but I think about how I haven’t done them — oh no no just can’t bear to do them for 30min a day for two weeks?

For me, at least, a task is odious if it may cause me to find out bad news that produces more tasks, if it involves forms, if it involves talking to people on the phone, especially someone I don’t know (what if they are mean to me? 😫)

It’s not THAT bad. Is it?

@rubinjoni @catselbow @futurebird and it times out, and if it times out you have to start the whole thing over, including a full account unlock flow (I'm sorry, your password must contain a different number of special characters from any previous password, but single quotes aren't allowed).

And it only runs in IE6 and requires a Bush era version of Java.

And one (but only one) if the microphones used to record the audio has a loud hiss. They did not compensate for this in any way.

The AI the wrote the script for the video I just skipped:

"... similar to shoes and clothing, ants come in various sizes ..."

I adore the implications of this: each person has a shoe size, and, of course, an "ant size" ... the correct-sized ant for your needs! 🤣

What size ant do you use most often?

@futurebird taller ant. At least, I try.

Thinking about judges wigs and other trappings of power.

Apparently in Poland when they have legal court everyone wears robes: different colors for attorneys and the judge etc.

Of course in the UK judges still wear wigs which US judges are free to wear too, but simply don't.

On the US Supreme court it's just black robes-- Clarence Thomas, Antonin Scalia, and Stephen Breyer have all tried to make skull caps happen but no one else cared.

US Supreme Court justices only some of them bother with the skull cap.

@futurebird @sewblue @justafrog when I get pulled over (very rarely, as I live in a city that literally does not enforce traffic laws), the result is usually either a warning or a minor bureaucratic hassle with no direct monetary consequences (forgot to put the tags on, old insurance card in the car, etc).

I've been pulled over for 15 over the limit on the freeway in a state I didn't live in, didn't have a current insurance card, and just got a warning.

I'm a cishet white male, though.
