There's a lot of radicals that will tell you that the Democrats are paper tigers secretly helping the Republicans, and they're all on the same team. And man that's some real David Icke stuff, by which I mean it's a coping mechanism that provides comfort. If you're looking at the Democratic party and seeing a united front with cohesive goals, shared plans, and a deep capacity for operating smoothly, I've got a bridge to sell you. Now more than ever it seems clear that the Democrats are disjointed, dysfunctional, and barely able to attend to even intra-party politics.

I think they see themselves as antagonistic to the Republicans but the window of discourse has become so narrow that there's little difference between them. The Democrats are the left wing of capital and they share the same system with the Republicans. There's also the ratchet effect which means that as the Republicans move right so do the Democrats in order to get their share of the vote. This isn't entirely their fault as the party ideology reflects the opinions not only of their financiers but also of their constituents. People like Bernie Sanders and AOC were able to use the party as a platform to inject socialist ideas into the mainstream discourse so electoralism may be useful as a propaganda tool.
