When she finally saw the movie, she realized to her astonishment that this story sheā€™d adored since she was far too young for it, that she knew almost by heart, that inspired her first albumā€”this story was now her story. Specifically Lady Jessicaā€™s story. This goes by fast onscreen, but Jessica (played by Rebecca Ferguson) is not a wife but a concubine. Grimes saw herself in Jessica, and she saw X in Jessicaā€™s son, Paul Atreides (TimothĆ©e Chalamet). Paul is more than a dukeā€™s son. Heā€™s a chosen one, tasked with becoming a great leader. ā€œWhen I see X,ā€ she says, ā€œlike, I just know X is going to have to go through all this really fucked-up shit that sort of mirrors Paul-type stuff.ā€ Watching it wrecked her. ā€œI was just crying my eyes out the whole movie.ā€

    I donā€™t know how to explain it, but time works differently in airports. 5 minutes and 5 hours are somehow the same. Your flight is delayed but arrives early. The carpets are from 1980. The water machines are from 2045. It is always happy hour. You have always been in the airport.
