How did we end up in a world, where all content can be viewed from anywhere, but you have to pay for a VPN subscription?

The argument: You have to pay, because some content is limited to certain regions… which is what VPN proves to be false, because with VPN all content IS available everywhere.

Should we make cars like that?

👨🏼‍🦳 Well you need a VPN app, because this car cannot drive into France.

🧔🏻 But I just tried the VPN app, and this car can drive into France just fine!

👨🏼‍🦳 Yes, but…

🧔🏻 NO!

@randahl That is factual wrong.

When you use a VPN connection, it will show your origination (IP) as the VPN server you are connected through.

Ofcourse, if your VPN service has servers (and IPs) located in the region you are browsing content, then it will be available.

Maybe if you have some really advanced VPN service they can switch the server you use dependent on what location you are trying to acces. I am not aware if such service exists.

Reminder: If we allow ourselves to fall into fatalism, or wallow in disappointment, or become resigned to what is rather than what should be, we will lose the long game.

The greatest enemy of positive social change is cynicism about what can be changed.

@rbreich Fatalism isnt cynicism or resignation. Fatalisme is the belief that all things are destined, and it doesnt change your life trajectory in any way if you have this belief.

Fatalisme is the opposite of the idea that "you can do something if you want". Fatalisme is - You will do something if its your destiny.
