Last weekend, I had organised a nice night with dinner and a movie with one of my closest friends, a university lecturer.

They had to cancel, because they were behind on marking students' papers. The reason? The process now involves (mandatorily) using "AI checkers" to vet for students using AI.

This eats whole unpaid days of "work" time for my friend.

@vampiress but it's extra work that other people are doing so who cares, right?

I know I've spent considerable time trying to understand a particularly odd change in a pull request, before finally leaving a comment asking about it and getting "dunno that's just what copilot put there lol" in response.

Only a couple of times so far but holy shit is it infuriating having to debug slop generated by people who've made it clear they don't want to understand the work they're doing.

Walked up to the counter at Jaycar. Dumped a dozen loose plugs and small parts in the counter, said "give me a sec, I wrote down the part numbers for this stuff". Dude serving me did a double take, "really? Omg that's awesome."

Rings me up, asks "are you a rewards member?"

"No."

Another double take. "Should I sign you up?"

"Don't spoil this."

    @vampiress Pump Up The Volume. It worked well for who I was in the mid 90s. I doubt it'll work for who I am now. And it's probably aged awfully. Just gonna let it be.
