This is the year of the Lisp Machine desktop.

Here's an online Medley Interlisp session on my Chromebox. Your turn: show off your Lisp Machine environment.

    @amoroso I am a fan of computer anthropology/ archaeology and all your hyping of Medley Interlisp has lead me to read up on the BBN dialect and consider this elegant computing world we could have had.

    I’m not quite sure how to step into image based computing but this entire thing is deeply fascinating.

    Side note: I watched "The Fall Guy" last night.

    If you know ANYTHING about the geography of Sydney, Australia do NOT watch that film.

    4 of us, Sydneysiders all, were going "wait WHAT? How did he get THERE suddenly!” every damn cut during some of the action scenes.

    I recognise that perfect geography can be stifling to a director and liberties often need to be taken to compress space, but these cuts just made NO sense.

    @vampiress arguably the greatest car chase scene ever: the climax of “Bullitt” plays verrrry fast and loose with the geography of SF in the same way.

    @vampiress @grumpygamer when I was in Sydney, learning to love the Aussies and cricket (tbh) was a joy: Ponting as captain era. Also that the take away shops were empty …. Until tea and it was like Grand Central station.

    For me personally, a vital part of the Designing a Dungeon process is to sit in a park and design the dungeon.

    @vampiress I think the tech here gelled recently.

    Goodnotes and side by side apps on screen have made this a learning and annotating platform I’d long wished for.

    @vampiress new world pictures, so you you know it's abject trash.

    @vampiress yes yes they were the masters of that.

    Please tell me you’ve seen “Hard ticket to Hawaii?”

    @vampiress

    I'd call it one of the best worst movies ever. I mean, a directorial choice involves a skateboard, a blow-up sex doll, and an RPG launcher.

    Also, the female protagonists are "Penthouse" models.

    Also, the dudes are the hunkiest lunks of man you ever did saw.

    And this, completely avoids the cancer-infected killer snake.

    So, I hope you use your time wisely.

    @vampiress confirmed. Red with a stack of Tim-tams if I were back Sydney-side :)

    The cheat! We did not install a light switch so you could have light-switch raves! We installed a light-switch so you could turn on and off lights!

    @vampiress in the US, there is an e-learning/tutoring company called Chegg. I can’t imagine telling a room of tweens that tutoring support is available on “Chegg.”

    @vampiress that’d never happen

    Father attempts to slam hands down, but the degenerated muscles in his fingers start to burn and rip as he makes to flatten his hands out of their permanent lobster claw caused by emacs’ key bindings’ repetitive stress damage.

    The rods of iron in his forearm provide hot jolts up his forearm.

    Defeated, he calls for his typist and asks them to slam the table top for him.

    They do not hurry and he falls to the ground, weeping, a defeated shell.

    Son has already made edit, committed it, and pushed to production and is out the door.

    @vampiress @grumpygamer I still miss the built in sound. Person of the opening song. I sing it when doing chores since the day in Pomona, CA, visiting a friend, I was introduced to adventure gaming.

    @vampiress I’m currently reading a lisp book that teaches its concepts by providing game source code exercises (with a lot of tongue in cheek humor afoot).

    @vampiress what’s a video game essay? Like “The tragic hubris of Ted Faro” with lore and stills that imply engine hackery from “Horizon?”

    @vampiress I find music the same. The stuff I hated or just clowned people to no end for liking I feel sadly nostalgic for.

    Spotify’s “60 songs that explain the 90s” has carried me to your position.

    @vampiress id love an intro to curses based game programming. I know curses, but pro patterns you discovered would have a ready market of learners.

    @vampiress so you have some sort of game state and after every “tick” you render the state to screen as a dungeon?
