Last weekend, I had organised a nice night with dinner and a movie with one of my closest friends, a university lecturer.

They had to cancel, because they were behind on marking students' papers. The reason? The process now involves (mandatorily) using "AI checkers" to vet for students using AI.

This eats whole unpaid days of "work" time for my friend.

    @dansup My personal opinion is that the only way the Fediverse is actually relevant is to be absolutely irrelevant among the commercial networks.

    Otherwise it’s just secondary software to connect to the overwhelming capitalist propaganda machine.

    i've spent the whole day procrastihacking on things, and I"m just amazed by how comfortable the whole "how the heck do I do this", "oh no I have to do $tediousStuff", "ohh... I wish I could learn more about X but I don't have the time" has become.

    Like I legit feel I kind of wasted my day, but...

    @mnl They can fool you easily if you have no experience I guess so maybe it’s not good in everyone’s hands but I understand LLMs are a good enhanced search engine.

    In a sense I like the idea of condensing the human knowledge in an accessible form. The worst part is how it puts control in the hands of evil billionaires. In an ideal society which would not even need copyright, LLMs would be just great.
