OK, OK... so IMPORTANT QUESTION. Can we say "globally" when discussing the entire surface of a celestial body such as Phobos? That Martian moon baby isn't remotely spherical. It's a potato.

@elizabethtasker how about simply using “everywhere on the surface”?

Travelling to the UK by train today.
First train: delayed by 10 minutes on departure due to passengers with huge suitcases all trying to enter the train simultaneously through the same narrow door. Now we’ve departed: screaming kids, loud conversations and cramped seats.
At times like this I particularly miss the Shinkansen…

@elizabethtasker the “London” Eurostar train is definitely more comfy than the “Thalys” Eurostar train. On the second one now. Empty seat next to me, yay!

rieder OP ,

@elizabethtasker they were originally different companies, merged last year. The (red) former Thalys trains don’t go to London.

@elizabethtasker no, they operate Amsterdam-Brussels-Paris (and I think Brussels-Cologne).

I thought I’d be irritated having to pay 1~2 euros for the public toilets in Paris. But the fact you can tap your card (no change needed) and the bathrooms are clean, with toilet paper, soap, hand towels & attendants actually makes it pretty great. As someone who periodically has stomach issues, it’s also anxiety reducing (there are places you would not want to be stuck for a prolonged period…!).

Although I say this from the privilege of not having to worry about spending several euros.

@elizabethtasker
Paid toilets > no toilets.
Paid, clean toilets > free, filthy toilets.
Free, clean toilets > paid, clean toilets.
Japan still does this better than most if not all countries I think.

In my 20s, I was very excited about travel. In my 40s, I’m tempted to cancel the entire trip at the last minute and claim to have contracted want-a-regular-week-with-the-cat fever.

@RikerGoogling that’s quite insulting. To the Ferengi.
