Now that we have a genuine independent book store in town, I popped in on the way back from the dentist and ordered The Bezzle by @pluralistic, which is dropping soon.

When it's ready to pick up, a person named Julie will call me and I can stroll over and get it. A guy could get used to this non-Amazonian thing.

@timmymac @pluralistic Nice, innit?. My village bookstore is half run by someone i have known for a decade or so. Christmas & Birthday list now is just a notepad document on the bookshop desktop computer called “Martin’s List” that i add to when i go in. this year family just got me every book on the list and everything about this from start to finish makes me happy

Climate protest is not a crime.

Or at least it SHOULDN'T be a crime. But in our capitalist, neoliberal world, it is.

Greta Thunberg and four other climate activists were put on trial today after being arrested at a protest outside a gathering of fossil fuel bosses in London last October.

Speaking about this, Thunberg said...

"Even though we are the ones standing here, climate and human rights activists all over the world are being prosecuted, sometimes convicted, and given legal penalties for acting in line with science."

"We must remember who the real enemy is. What are we defending? Who are our laws meant to protect?”
