One thing I’ve noticed, particularly with my parents and other older people, is that they are apt to equate confidence with competence. Someone can be spewing a giant bag of horse shit, but if they do it confidently, apparently about half the population will believe it

@jerry Statements like that are likely fraught with bias. There are probably plenty of people your age or younger that react in the same way. But with older people, it's easy to explain it away as "age-based idiocy" or "early onset whatever", which then leads to the idea that "things will be better once those people die off". Which, as I can tell you from experience, is not going to happen. Just curious, what's your age bracket? Mine's 50-ish.
