I'm late to hype up this launch but this is a HUGE step forward for our Fediverse integration 😇 I'll explain why below:

  1. For the first time ever we are showing Fediverse usernames, domains, reply content, profile pictures, and images in the product. That involved bringing a ton of systems online so we could provide the same safe experience you get elsewhere on Threads. Huge shoutout to the integrity and wellbeing folks for all this great work...

I am glad smart quotes has been enabled on @threads! I believe @joinmastodon is working on implementing this too, although I am not sure when it will be available.

Per object reply approvals can easily be extended to quote approvals!

The ability to limit who can quote your Threads posts is now available to everyone. You can allow quotes from everyone on Threads, only the people you follow, or disable quote posts entirely. I hope this will help keep Threads a more positive place and give people more control over their experience. If you’ve been using this feature, would love to hear your thoughts.

Quote approvals aren’t quite a thing yet on the Fediverse but if/when they are, it’d be great to match up these systems!
