Really I'm of the view that a hard fork of mastodon is (probably) not the right solution, but it's likely my view on that is for different reasons than a lot of other people who have talked about it (and also substantially similar in some respects, but with some core differences).

But if you want to do the work and it energizes you then go forth. It just seems to be more hassle than I suspect it will be worth versus just building a ground-up implementation (which is already plenty of work).

@hrefna Having to basically redevelop from scratch the wire protocol as used seems to tip the ease of doing things in favor of tweaking the existing horrible ruby implementation.

Uncommitted shows up for Palestine in Pennsylvania. 36,000 write-ins have been counted so far.

Biden will not win in November if he continues to support Israel's genocide.

@mikeblake @palestine that does beg the question of just who would win in that case? (And, similarly, who would die under that new regime.)

… what?

There’s a subtext here that I am completely missing, sorry.

The shit sandwich that is being served to the USA is that both likely presidents are ok with this ongoing genocide and the electorate in half a dozen states is going to have to choose one based on what other atrocities they are likely to commit.

There are no good choices for decent human beings in November, just least bad choices, and the question I, for one, am facing is who else will will die at the hands of our new government.

I think you may be underestimating the amount of antisemitism that’s boiling up in this country.

@mikeblake @palestine All the democrats can do in the primary is express their disapproval with the actions of their inevitable nominee.

It’s not the facile nihilism of “Biden has personally committed genocide, while Mr Trump (who I do not support) has not”, but politics is so much kicking the can down the road trying to minimise damage.

I have skin in the game, so my read of the argument that “if the democrats lose in november they will learn their lesson!” is that the people making that argument are fine with genocide as long as it includes people like me.

(Cue everyone showing up in my mentions to tell me how bad glyphosate/roundup is… now).

Oh, yeah, roundup is pretty nasty stuff that shouldn't be sprayed near any plant. It's TERRIBLE for them. and would you do that to a sweet innocent little blackberry bramble (just to mention a random plant that may have been infesting my yard until an series of awkward encounters with glyphosate last year.)

So, yeah, it's nasty stuff.
