Uncommitted shows up for Palestine in Pennsylvania. 36,000 write-ins have been counted so far.

Biden will not win in November if he continues to support Israel's genocide.

Washington Post reports 51,000 write-ins cast in Pa. Democratic primary. Looks like the "uncommitted" movement hit its 50,000 vote target.

@mikeblake @Crowpine @palestine “Damn you, Face! I’m so mad at you I’m gonna cut off your nose.”

Let’s get real. Our options are: 1. An old white guy who is hamstrung by the actions of his predecessors and further hobbled by a House that is partially under the control of fascists. 2. Another old white guy, the predecessor whose actions directly led to the current genocide that Netanyahu is perpetrating, and who has committed to helping Netanyahu complete his genocide in Palestine, and has further promised to conduct a similar genocide here in the USA.

So, please, tell me again why electing Trump will do anything other than result in the deaths of even more innocent people in both Palestine and in the USA.

What are you trying to say here, that since we have no good option, it's OK that Biden is helping Trump by supporting the genocide???

Here's an idea, get Biden to oppose the genocide, and distinguish himself further from Trump.

Here's another idea, oppose the genocide because genocide is bad. Take a lead on the issue, instead of being complicit.

I think you may be underestimating the amount of antisemitism that’s boiling up in this country.

The U.S. President and/or the Aspiring President control very little of the major events that occur on the globe.

Congress, the Supreme Court and the Federal Reserve Board all circumscribe the president's power. This and the authority of the states greatly limit the president's power, just as the country's founders intended.

The power often ascribed to the U.S. presidency is overblown.

Joe Biden has personally bypassed Congress over 100 times to send armaments, including illegal cluster bombs and white phosphorus to be used to kill and maim Palestinian civilians.

Congress has funded the contracts under which these weapons have been produced.
As we have seen in recent events, they can turn off the funding if they so choose. Here is an example of the contract contract for F-16's.

The issue is much larger than the election.

Killing of innocents as well as soldiers are the logical outcomes of the U.S. having armed for many years many countries in the Middle East and other areas of conflict on the glob with Congressionally approved funding for the profit of our defense industry maga- corporations.

This must stop before we become engaged in yet another major war.

@mikeblake @palestine that does beg the question of just who would win in that case? (And, similarly, who would die under that new regime.)

mikeblake OP ,
@mikeblake@climatejustice.social avatar

@orc @palestine If you mean in the case of ending support for the genocide, I suspect Biden wins comfortably.

… what?

There’s a subtext here that I am completely missing, sorry.

The shit sandwich that is being served to the USA is that both likely presidents are ok with this ongoing genocide and the electorate in half a dozen states is going to have to choose one based on what other atrocities they are likely to commit.

There are no good choices for decent human beings in November, just least bad choices, and the question I, for one, am facing is who else will will die at the hands of our new government.

My bad, I may have misunderstood your post. My intention is to encourage Biden to reverse his support for Israel. Yes , It's unlikely. One way to make that happen though is to get the crowd to realize that opposing Israel will help Biden in November. That's really what is all about. It's sad to think we need to tell people 'what's in it for me' in order to oppose the genocide, but that's where we are.

@mikeblake @palestine All the democrats can do in the primary is express their disapproval with the actions of their inevitable nominee.

It’s not the facile nihilism of “Biden has personally committed genocide, while Mr Trump (who I do not support) has not”, but politics is so much kicking the can down the road trying to minimise damage.

I have skin in the game, so my read of the argument that “if the democrats lose in november they will learn their lesson!” is that the people making that argument are fine with genocide as long as it includes people like me.
