WOW WOW WOW is my initial reaction to the Ditto community server

It is exactly what Nostr needs and what I had hoped atproto would have

It is even compatible with Mastodon API

--previosly nostr relays, storage and ids were complicated
--atproto lacks the ease for self hosters to build their communities compared to those on activitypub

Ya know...I didn't think about it until now, but it's kinda wild that the BlueSky bridge was REQUIRED to be "opt-in" by a massive amount of Fedi which just runs like a normal instance runs.

However, we currently have the Momostr.pink relay that bridges to Nostr with no such "opt-in" ridiculousness and Nostr doesn't even have "deletes" at all. You post something, it's there. No going back.

I guess the....6 instances that block it felt the same as the folks that hated on the BlueSky bridge but they decided to use the actual tool they were allotted in every such case, the BLOCK button....

So, why is a Nostr, no delete, opt out bridge, more admissible than a BlueSky, normal deletes, opt out bridge?🤨

I am now more confused than ever about the mindsets of people here.

I genuinely want to know if there's a reason one should be allowed and not the other, if there is one...😬

@BeAware @mackuba Every network has what you listed so it'll come down to the moderation tools that each network provides and how they each handle reports

@BeAware @mackuba Yes on Nostr it's a lot more in the open. Activitypub instances has just as many (if not even more) if you look at all the blocked instances

@BeAware @mackuba Not sure about the deletes

I was replying to your post about shitposters ... etc

If I could use quote post, it may have helped

For video sharing content on activitypub, you can register a new account and sign in to peertube instances

It's different over on atproto. You don't need an extra account on Bluemotion video sharing app. Just sign in using your existing Bluesky account

    Exciting times for the fediverse!

@BeAware I'm confused. What is the issue of it not being an official Bluesky service compared to any peertube instance that is created?

    okpierre OP ,
    @okpierre@mastodon.social avatar

@BeAware To me that's more a personal choice and not an issue similar to using sign in with x (Google/Apple/Microsoft/Github)

Some prefer the convenience of using one account for all of fediverse while others prefer to create a single account for each Pixelfed, Mastodon, Peertube etc

Oh fediverse are you getting worse? Even this cat is not enjoying the experience. So sad that I have to scroll several pages on the Mastodon timeline just to get to couple of "real" posts

    Bluesky
✅ [discover timeline] less links, actual posts from users and many discussions. Maybe better moderation?

    Mastodon
❌ [live feed timeline] filled with so many links to news, politics before seeing actual content

@BeAware If I click on "this server" tab and it is filled with just as many as "other servers" tab ... I'll go try few more instances

Good addition even if it's on the Threads side ... and I'm curious why many fediverse apps still can't get the correct post and follower count but it works with threads? Is it compatibility between Mastodon, Pixelfed, Misskey apps? @Gargron

@BeAware @Gargron Hmmm not sure because if I view threads profile even from another instance that have not discovered it, the profile details (followers and post count) are consistent

Not every fediverse user want to connect to Bluesky but for those that do, you can look into using Friendica. The next release will allow you to use your Bluesky account from within Friendica. Interact with Mastodon / Msskey / Pixelfed etc and Bluesky users together on one platform
