The White House is quietly pressuring UN member nations to oppose Palestinian membership ahead of the UN meeting today.

Sommerfeld agreed with our position and said Ecuador would not support any UN Security Council Resolution recommending the admission of "Palestine" as a UN member state. She added that she would also instruct Ecuador's UN Perm Rep Jose de la Gasca to lobby France, Japan, Korea, and Malta to not support any such resolution. 2. (SBU).
