I make experimental electronic and acoustic music involving free improvisation, adapting to complex systems and making & using terrible instruments. I've done solo and collaborative performances, installations, sculpture, radio pieces, chamber composition, video work and more.

I also make instruments/devices (not terrible) under the name noise.technology. I sell them online and use them in workshops.

Dear mastodon, is this a slime mold? If so, which one? I missed out on going there the next day to see if it had moved or changed. It was on a pine tree, can’t remember if it was alive or not. Fingers for scale.
Hashtags to find the right people 🙃

A black sort of blob shape growing on tree bark. Kind of looks like asphalt.

"The "X-risk" of the spicy autocomplete chatbot waking up and using its newfound sentience to turn us all into paperclips is nonsense. Adding words to the plausible sentence generator doesn't turn it into a superintelligence for the same reason that selectively breeding faster horses doesn't lead to locomotives:"

"Using “Luddite” as a synonym for technophobe is an historically insupportable libel.

We’re living in quite a Luddite moment, as it happens. Many of us are contesting the social relations surrounding our technologies: should we continue to subsidize big agriculture? Should our cities continue to be organized around cars?"

This was good (and two years old) as usual when @pluralistic is the writer.
