And off we go! This summer we will travel from #Oslo (#Norway) to #Brest (#France) by train. Both to visit new places and to limit our #co2 footprint.

First day, first train: the 16:52 SJ service to Stockholm (Sweden). Not a fast service because of maintenance work, but at least it is direct. And comfy.

  • Oslo - Stockholm (soirée);
  • Stockholm - Hamburg (train de nuit);
  • Hamburg - Paris (de jour);
  • Paris - Brest (soirée)

Not the most direct, but we wanted to see Stockholm, and visit a friend in Hamburg.

A short night at hostel (15 min from Stockholm C). We arrived late (23:30) and wished we had checked-in online.

Now back to the main station to leave our luggage at lockers. Not much capacity, many were in use.

Our next train (SJ Euronight) leaves tonight at 17:34 towards Hamburg (Germany).

was nice, sunny, and windy. It was an express visit, and we will for sure come back another time.

Now waiting for the SJ Euronight service to Hamburg and Berlin. Many travellers are waiting on platform 12, this will certainly be full. We booked a 6-berth compartment.

SJ's Euronight, originally planned for 17:34, then 17:50, 18:00, 18:10, ... We are still waiting in Stockholm.

@wolfgangcramer yeah, a good old night train like I used to take in central France as a student 20+ years ago. And they were not brand new then 😅.

Good morning from SJ's Euronight service Stockholm - Berlin (we jump off in Hamburg at 9am). The five slept throughout.

The is now ahead of schedule and we wait for our time slot in Hamburg at Pinneberg.

Faut vraiment avoir une patience à toute épreuve quand tu te bats contre le changement climatique. Te faire insulter toute la journée par des climatosceptiques, des racistes, des fans de Bardella etc. et continuer malgré tout parce que tu sais que les canicules toucheront tout le monde, peu importe la couleur politique

TL;DR : Tout ne se passe pas bien. Les serveurs sont plantés. Et on a jusqu'à jeudi midi pour voter en ligne, en principe.

Anyone have a clue on if there is a place around Copenhagen central station where I can sit and wait in comfort for a few hours after midnight, maybe with a non alcoholic drink or two?

Thanks for sharing where you waited. I was in the same situation a few years back after having missed a connection with the night train. But we were a group of people, so time went faster at one of the pubs.

Maybe more people from Copenhagen will see this and share more tips? @Ruth_Mottram ?

Thanks. All our journeys are with direct trains, except for Hamburg -> Paris Est (a 1 hour change in Manheim).

We try to minimize risks given we travel with our 3 kids.
